Lucky winner of a new car at Summer Festival Invercargill Trots!

The winner of the brand new Nissan Tiida car at the Summer Festival Invercargill Trots meeting at Ascot Park yesterday is Susan Burgess, from Invercargill.

Susan won the brand new Nissan Tiida 1.8L automatic, worth $25,000, when she bought a $6 Scoop bet on-course on the Summer Six Pack on Race 6 at Ascot Park last night.

Susan said "Winning the car has really topped the day off! My father recently past away and he was always heavily involved with the Club. One of his cousins trained the winner of one race tonight and another drove the horse that came third."

The car won yesterday is just one of four up for grabs over the next week as part of the Summer Festival series, which involves 38 family-focused race meetings throughout New Zealand from 26 December to 6 February 2009.

Southland Harness Racing Club publicity officer Lindsay Beer said "Summer Festival is a good concept with a large crowd turning up to enjoy the family-orientated activities".

New Zealand Racing Board on-course marketing manager Janice Hill said the Summer Festival series had been extremely successful with around a quarter of a million people walking through the gates over the 6 week season.

The other Summer Festival events where cars must be won are:

- Oamaru Trots, Sunday 1 February (Race 6 at 2.50pm)

- Tauherenikau Gallops, Friday 6 February (Waitangi Day) (Race 6 at 3.18pm)

A Nissan Tiida car will also be won at the Summer Festival Foxton Trots this Sunday (1 February) as part of a separate joint promotion with the Sunday Star Times.

The $6 Scoop ticket is a $6 Six Pack Percentage Easybet, which gives customers 32 different computer-generated combinations for the first six horses to cross the finishing line, returning 36 per cent of the Six Pack pool.

The Summer Festival programme is run by the New Zealand Racing Board to assist and support racing clubs to develop the on-course customer experience.
